President
After working in rental, staging, and production for thirteen years, Floyd founded Event Engineering in 1991. Floyd knows what it takes—in people and hours—to make a show go on. He’s worn many hats during his tenure in the meeting and entertainment business, managing production, staging, and labor for rock concerts, high-profile corporate meetings, marketing events, and television production at the Olympics and Super Bowl. He was technical producer for the opening of Chicago’s Millennium Park, multiple events for the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid including events at Millennium Park and Daley Plaza, opening ceremonies for the Gay Games at Soldier Field, and Allstate’s 75th anniversary gala at Millennium Park featuring Elton John, among others.
Floyd is a Chicago native, and his long-term relationships with local union leaders, venues, and City Hall make him a highly valuable resource.
Vice President - Operations
John has enjoyed a career spanning more than three decades in audiovisual communications, broadcasting, and special events staging as a technical director and as a corporate officer directing sales and operations. He spent decades in the rental and staging business before transitioning into broadcast and event crewing prior to coming on board at Event Engineering in 2005.
Today, John provides production consultation and labor contracting, management, and payroll services for our clients who produce a variety of large-scale meetings, special events, and product launches.
Director - Venue Logistics and Production Labor
Rob has over 23 years experience in the production field, starting as a production electrician at Navy Pier and later managed all events Pier wide. Rob moved to McCormick Place in 2006 to open the South Building, where he managed all productions. When the West Building came on line he became the Technical Director for all McCormick Place productions. His responsibilities included interfacing with outside production companies, providing and managing staffing, and labor jurisdictions as well as review of all rigging plans and production schedules.
Rob is our McCormick Place and Navy Pier specialist, as well as applying his skills to budgeting and managing union labor for events all across Chicago.
Business Manager / Freelance Crewing
Liha is a natural problem solver; and as our Business Manager since 2001, Liha runs a tight ship. Her responsibilities include Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and accounting compliance. Payroll alone is no small order: Event Engineering employs a large and constantly growing number of local and national crew members. She also budgets and books our freelance crews, works closely with clients, and oversees all details of the labor arrangements to assure the success of events using freelance crews.
Director - National Crewing / Freelance Call Steward
Pam joined the Event Engineering team as a production coordinator in 2002. Her job includes establishing and maintaining great relationships with union leadership and labor providers across the country, as well as analyzing contracts and creating labor rate sheets for the over sixty markets we serve. Pam creates all out of town labor budgets, and handles call placement for out of town crewing as well as our Chicago area freelance projects.
